The Best Strains For Seniors Who Do Not Want To Inhale

Did you know that there are more ways to consume medical marijuana than just inhaling? Often times patients prefer dosing medical marijuana under their tongue or swallowing their medicine.

Ingestibles include capsules and tinctures. When dosed under the tongue, medical marijuana normally takes effect within 30 minutes. When swallowed, onset can be delayed up to two hours.

Also, topicals include creams and lotions. Topicals are applied to the skin and are best for treating localized pain and discomfort, while delivering cannabinoids into the bloodstream through the skin.

Some popular strains for seniors who do not want to inhale include:

  • 1:1 (THC:CBD) Capsules
    • Higher CBD option, great for pain relief and inflammation, tends to be relatively functional for most patients
  • 1:1 (THC:CBD) Tincture
    • High CBD option, great for pain relief and overall reduction of inflammation
  • 1:1 (THC:CBD) Topical
    • High CBD option for anti-inflammation

Strains High In CBD

If you’re looking for a treatment that has minimal THC, you’ll want to learn more about CBD. These are great for daytime treatments that bring relief to pain and inflammation without psychoactivity. Strains high in CBD can be in the forms of inhalables, ingestibles and topicals.

Some favorable strains high in CBD for very clear headed, anti-inflammatory effects include:

  • Solevo 50:1 (CBD:THC) tincture
  • Ease 1:10 (THC: CBD) tincture
  • Standard Farms 10:1 (CBD:THC) tincture

Solevo and UPMC: “Medical Marijuana for Chronic Pain in Older Persons; Impact on Mobility and Cognitive Performance”

Solevo Wellness is conducting a research study in partnership with Dr. Neelesh Nadkarni and Dr. Debra Weiner at the University of Pittsburgh, “Medical Marijuana for Chronic Pain in Older Persons; Impact on Mobility and Cognitive Performance.” The purpose of the study is to explore the effects of medical marijuana on thinking and walking in people aged 60 and older who have chronic pain and are already taking medical marijuana or plan to start taking it soon.

Participants are asked questions about their pain, mood, medications, memory and medical conditions along with other aspects of their health.

If you are interested in learning more about the study and possibly participating, please stop in to any Solevo Wellness location to speak with a pharmacist.
